DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is a validation system used to prove that an e-mail message has been sent by an authorized mail server or individual. An electronic signature is added to the header of the message by using a private key. When the message is received, a public key that’s available in the global DNS database is used to verify who exactly sent it and whether the content has been altered in any way. The prime task of DomainKeys Identified Mail is to stop the widely spread scam and spam emails, as it makes it impossible to forge an email address. If a message is sent from an address claiming to belong to your bank, for example, but the signature does not correspond, you will either not receive the email at all, or you’ll get it with a warning alert that most likely it’s not an authentic one. It depends on mail service providers what exactly will happen with an email that fails to pass the signature check. DKIM will also offer you an additional layer of security when you communicate with your business associates, for instance, since they can see that all the emails that you exchange are legitimate and haven’t been modified on their way.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Shared Website Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is enabled by default for all domains that are hosted in a shared website hosting account on our cloud hosting platform, so you won’t have to do anything yourself to enable it. The sole condition is that the particular domain name should be hosted in an account on our platform using our MX and NS resource records, so that the e-mails will go through our email servers. The private key will be created on the server and the TXT record, which includes the public key, will be published to the global DNS system automatically, so you won’t have to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this option. The DKIM email validation system will permit you to send trustable emails, so if you are sending a newsletter or offers to clients, for example, your emails will always reach their target viewers, while unauthorized 3rd parties will not be able to forge your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you opt for any of the Linux semi-dedicated services offered by us, you will be able to use the DKIM option with any domain name that you register through your new semi-dedicated account without any manual intervention, as our high-tech cloud platform will create all the obligatory records automatically, on the condition that the domain uses our name servers. The aforementioned is needed for a TXT record to be set up for the domain name, since this is how the public key can become available in the global DNS system. The private key will also be added automatically to our email servers, so anytime you send out a new email message, it will have our system’s digital signature. The number of spam messages continues to grow each year and very frequently phony email addresses are used, but when you use our hosting services, you and your clients or partners won’t have to bother about that.
